Quick transformation photo - the shade side of our house was seriously neglected for years. It was bad, we are bad neighbors, etc. So we had our house painted - that made huge difference (pic 1 and 2 was after the power washing and scraping). Then Michele and I built borders and spread seven yards of wood chips and 2 yards of river stone (pic 3). Today the hammock we ordered came (pic 4) and now I feel like we are starting to get that part of the yard back. In pic 5 you can see the bed that took me a few days to clean out - the English ivy was so bad there. Also - one of the big issues we have on that side is erosion and run off from the water coming from the front of the house traveling down to the creek. So the last piece we (almost) finished today was putting in a rain barrel. Still have to finish the downspout but it’s crazy how much water comes from the gutters, no wonder there was so much wash out. Also hacksawing a perfectly good downspout is a weird feeling.
